Core Message

This is our 3rd TAS (Transmission Assessment Survey) on the way to declaring our area Filariasis‑Free. Full cooperation is needed, especially for pupils, with parent/guardian consent.

Why this matters

Filariasis (lymphatic filariasis) is spread by mosquito bites. Many people may have the infection without symptoms at first, but the infection can still spread in the community.

Hazards if not prevented

Permanent swelling of legs, arms, breasts, or genitals (elephantiasis).
Hydrocele (swelling of the scrotum in men).
Repeated pain, fever, and skin infections.
Difficulty walking/working, loss of income, and long-term disability.
Stigma, stress, and reduced quality of life.
Continued spread in the community through mosquito bites.

What we need from the community

For Parents/Guardians of Pupils:

Please give consent for your child to participate in the 3rd TAS.
Ensure your child is available on the scheduled day and follows instructions from the health team.
Your cooperation helps confirm that transmission has stopped and supports declaring the area Filariasis‑Free.

For Everyone:

Support the health team during TAS activities.
Prevent mosquito bites (nets, repellant, long sleeves especially at night).
Remove mosquito breeding sites (cover water containers, remove stagnant water, keep surroundings clean).
